Starting Pitching is Looking Up

There are still a couple of games left on the road trip, but Reds fans have to be encouraged about the starting pitching lately. Travis Wood was terrific against the Astros Monday pitching into the seventh inning and giving up no runs. He also helped provide the power at the plate. On a night in which Cincinnati was without Votto (day off), Rolen (DL) and Gomes (off day) in the lineup and Jay Bruce going 0-3, Wood's 3-run homer got the team an early lead (something they've struggled to do in the first month-and-a-half of the season). More importantly the pitching appears to be coming around at the right time. Starting Friday the Reds play 20 games vs the likes of St. Louis, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Atlanta and Milwaukee. The Cleveland, Philly and Atlanta swing are all on the road. It's been a successful road trip so far (3-1) with two more to play. Curious to see if Homer Bailey can be as good as his season debut last week. He have a little extra adrenaline pitching in his home state of Texas for the first time tonight.
